In July 2021, my life changed.
I gave birth to a little boy named Jules.
I didn't know it at that moment, but I too had just been (re)born.
I knew that the birth of my baby would change my life. But I was far from imagining just how much my life would change for the better.
In fact, my worldview and priorities have completely transformed.
I wanted to be able to make a difference in order to leave a better world to my child. I also wanted to align my life with my values.
The turning point
It was in November 2021, during a trip to Portugal, that the idea for Timininous unconsciously began to take shape in my head.
Travelling across the country from South to North, we were surprised by the temperature differences.
One day we were hiking under a blazing sun, while the next day, just a few hours' drive further north, we were wearing our down jackets!
I was constantly preoccupied with my baby's comfort.
Was he too hot? Was he cold?
I was thinking he would be so comfortable in merino wool thermal clothing like ours, which could regulate his body temperature.
Getting started
Back home, with winter approaching, I started looking for a merino wool base layer to take Jules cross-country skiing. I wanted to be able to dress him like us, so we could enjoy our outings without constantly worrying that he'd be too cold.
To my great surprise, I found almost nothing on the market that met my needs. Yet, I figured I certainly wasn't the only mother looking for this type of clothing for her child!
That's how I knew I had to go for it! What if I created the clothes and accessories I'd been searching for for my child myself!
The idea took root in my mind and a few months later, I decided to take the plunge, leaving my job to make this vision a reality!
The name
When I had the idea to create my own brand of merino wool clothing and accessories for mini adventurers, I knew right away that it would be called Timininous .
Timininous is the nickname we gave our baby when I was pregnant because we had decided to keep its sex a surprise.
So this was our "little mini us", an expression that quickly transformed into Timininous !
Just like us, our little adventurers need to be well-equipped to play outside in winter and summer!
Values
When I created my company, I absolutely wanted to promote values that are dear to me.
All merino wool clothing and accessories are carefully handcrafted in Quebec, using merino wool, an eco-responsible fiber of incomparable fineness and softness, whose thermoregulatory properties create a true little cocoon for those who wear it, keeping them warm when it's cold and cool and dry when it's hot!
It was essential for me that the clothing be made here in Quebec, and I didn't want to compromise on the quality of the wool I was going to use. It is therefore certified to guarantee animal welfare, environmental integrity, social responsibility, traceability, but above all, the quality of the fibers.
Versatile clothing
Timininous base layers are designed to be worn not only as thermal clothing, but also as pyjamas, all year round, regardless of the season.
Furthermore, since merino wool is expensive, I wanted the investment to be worthwhile. That's why our clothing and accessories are designed to grow with your child, allowing toddlers to wear them much longer than with a traditional cut... because these little ones grow so fast! I wanted the clothes to grow with the little ones to ensure lasting comfort!
It was also important for me, always with sustainability in mind, to choose neutral colors and pay particular attention to the design so that they would stand the test of time.
Consume less, but better
One of the fundamental values of my company is to offer parents an alternative to consume less, but better, by choosing sustainable, evolving, environmentally friendly products that are above all made locally and ethically in Quebec.
All of my company's decisions are geared towards preserving our beautiful playground for future generations of mini adventurers.
